Gleeson highlights several factors which bode well for the Australian Banks in 2021, including lead indicators and our domestic economy's resilience throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. 

He attributes much of the surprising resilience to unprecedented government support to prevent mass long-term unemployment and free falling house prices. 

Although the banking sector performs better in times of high interest rates, we see both government stimulus, the lifting of APRA's dividend pay out ratio limits and the economic reopening as positive signs for the Australian Banks in 2021.
